7mm WSM

Post by A Bolt » Sun Jan 06, 2008 6:43 pm

I have a model 70 in 7mm WSM and need to work up a load for mule deer. Anyone have any successful loads?

I have both the 270wsm and 300wsm but a good buddy has been using RL19 on top of 140grain Accubonds in his 7mm wsm with just under 70 grains of powder. Very accurate load. Start at least 10% lower and work up. It chrony'd mid 3100 fps. My two best loads also happen to be RL22 on my 270wsm and RL19 on my 300wsm.

Check both Alliant website and bullet mfgs website of your choice and see if they have any comparable data. There is also reloaders nest website but be cautioned that those are users loads and have not been verified.

My best advise on handloading is that max loads hardly ever equal best accuracy or killing performance so "Keep It Safe"

Thanks southwind. It seems there is little data floating around out there about this caliper. I've been working with anywhere from 61 gr to 66.9 gr of IMR 4831 behind 139 gr Interlocks with little change in my groups, so I'm tossing 4831 out of the equation.

I don't have any RL-19 sitting around, so I'm going to try Win 760. I've been dying to try the ball powder anyway. When I get to Cabelas again I'll be sure to pick up RL-19 and try to work something up.
