Which primer for 300wsm?

Post by chipmunksniper » Sat Sep 06, 2008 6:49 pm

I'm just getting into reloading and was wondering what primers i should use for my 300wsm loads. I've been trying to find info on the internet on whether to use magnum or standard primers but haven't come to a conclusion yet. any reccomendations? thanks

I like the federal 215 mag primers for any load over 50 grains or a load density around 70%. It may not be essensial in say a .270 but still use the mag primers. I like the hotter spark to ensure a consistant ignition. For a .300 I would for sure use the mag primer.

I use a mag primer with any ball powder no matter what the charge and regular primers for small charges of extruded.
so 50 grs of IMR4350 in my 25-06 could go either way, but when using H380, I use a magnum primer.
so yeah, use a magnum primer for your wsm.
shoot tight!
