I have on order a 6.5-284 and was wondering if anyone has had any experince with this caliber and/or berger vld's on deer? I am planning on shooting a 140 gr. I have drawn the henrys this year and dont wanna wound one, will this be a good choice?

That is a great caliber and cabable of 1000 yards with out much trouble. Just make sure you top it off with a good quality scope.

6.5X284:
What a great round, as for bullet selection, what is the twist rate of your barrel? To be shooting the 140 and heavier, you will need 9 to 1(8.5 to 1), if you have a 10 to 1, you may not be please with the results with 140gr and heavier bullets. Check out the 6MM bench rest site they have a lot of information on the loads. Personnel favorite bullet for(6.5X284) deer is 140gr Sierra Game King, it has done very well for me and the barrel likes them, but my barrel hate Hornady bullets but my 7mm-08 loves Hornady bulllets. Test as many different brands in the 120-142 wt Best of luck
