I'm looking at a Leupold VX-13-3X9X50 for my 270 Win.
It this a good choice for the $? Opinions? I don't want to go over $350.

Excellent choice for the money. I've had a dozen or so over the years with no problems. My all time favorite is the VXIII 3.5x10x40 which is out of your aforementioned price range.

Leupold is a very good scope maker. Their customer service is second to none, infact there are none better than leupold at customer service. When you buy a leupold scope it is guaranteed for life, no questions asked. I think that a purchase of a leupold scope is a very good decision. Under 350 is a bit questionable. I have always beleived the old addages of, you get what you pay for, and buy once and cringe once instead of buy twice and cringe twice. I would first look at quality and customer service and then at what I am intending to use the scope for. I would also consider longevity of the product and duration of use of said product and determine the right scope for the job, then look at price and save my pennies until I have enough to get what is desired instead of setteling for a lesser scope just because it was in a certain price bracket. Just my opinion though. Hope it helps.

OK, thanks for the input. Which scoop would I be better off with?
The VX 1 3-9X50 is $300.
The VX 2 3-9X40 is $330.

I need more light, eyes aren't what they once were. On very overcast days I need help.

Never used a VX I, but I love my VX II 3x9x40. It has been a solid performer for many years of use. Never had an issue with it. I put mine on a 30.06 and sighted it in 15 years ago. Year after year it has stayed zeroed without any adjustments.

Can't go wrong with Leupold products. Size and style are mostly just functions of the type of shooting you most often encounter. I have whittled down a fairly substantial collection of lefthanded rifles due to my advanced (58) age, and currently own only three. A TIKKA .243 and a BROWNING A BOLT in .270 - Both with VARI-X II 3 - 9 40mm, and a custom .375H&H fitted to a 2.5 - 5 VARI X III.
All of these scopes have performed flawlessly from Alaska to Zimbabwe.
Hope this info is helpful.

GOOD HUNTING
