Yea Rob, I thought the same thing. I'm in the middle of a three year Muley drought (Been able to temper that with my whitetail success though) and thought "I'm not going to be so picky this year and take the first legal buck I see."

Seeing the pics of great bucks from all the successful hunts this year has caused me to rethink that stance though. It's "three point or better" where I hunt so I have to at least bring home a buck with three points on one side but I may hold out yet again this year. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. It's never bothered me to come home without a deer....as long as I had fun tryin'. BUT, three years is a long time, dang it!

All these great bucks means I will have think really hard before pulling the trigger this year. DANG IF YOU GUYS HAVEN'T SET THE BAR HIGH THIS YEAR!!

With that being said, I wouldn't be ashamed of your first smokepole mule deer at all!

Your right , i barbecued some for dinner tonight and it had no gamey taste at ALL . It actually tasted better than the Elk we have , and i thought it was great . My wife has never has venison before and was very impressed .
