tell them that you already have a "vacation planned" but that you would be more than willing to serve at another time!!!
i was called once to go once during oct. but it was called off the day before!!!

i once got a jury duty notice so i had my boss write a letter to them telling them how if i couldn't work them 10 other people would also have to stop working during the time i was gone because they needed a forman to run the job. it worked , and i dont know if it's from that letter or just lucky but i have never been called again.

I would try the vacation planned, tickets non-refundable, serve another date line and see how it goes over. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you.

it really depends on what type of case it is. i got called to jury duty once the case was a dui homicide. i ws the first one released to go home when they asked me my stance on drunk driving and i looked right at the defedent and said he should die the same way his victim did. in fact i did not even get to sit back down when the defense lawyers were saying get him out of here.

I'd use the "vacation planned, tickets non-refundable" aproach as well. However, i've always heard that if you tell them you subscribe to "guns and ammo" and all of these other gun and/or hunting magazines then they wont pick you. Never tried it though, just what I've been told.
