In New Mexico, we do have a Traditional Hunting season; the restriction is cap/flint ignition, NO Scopes. I believe the scope was the factor in the test, even with an Old Style of scope, the quality of the scope used in this test far surpasses the best scope made 150 years ago. Most shooters know the capacities of the rifle, but do not have the skill required to make a 40 rod shot consistently with iron shots. Much less a 40 rod shot in the field.
