I tried to shoot some last evening pushed with 120gr. Shockey's gold powder. My groups were about 1 1/2-2" at 100 yds. I have a cast on my hand making it difficult to hold a rifle steady so they may group better, but so far not pleased. I had 2 consecutive fliers after 5th shot. Maybe a barrel cleaned after 3-4 shots would have prevented it or mybe my cast caused the problem. Hope to get back out tomorrow evening if possible. My gun shoots the 338gr. powerbelt platinums with the same powder charge like a dream so may switch back. I do like the design of the new Hornady FPB's, but too early to tell how much.

I hgave some a try with 100 gr of BH209 in my Omega and I was not impressed. The first two shots were 10" apart. I did not waste another primer on them in that gun.

I do intend to try them in my Knight Disc Elite this weekend though.

One thing to remember if you use them is copper fouling needs to be cleaned often. Don't expect to be able to shoot more than 5 shots without the accuracy going downhill.

I was finally able to try the FPB bullets in my Knight DE. I shot them with 110 gr of BH209 and was suprised with the 1.5" group at 100 yards. :thumb I am using this as my back up elk load in a couple weeks. I did not try any longer ranges but feel very comfortable using it to 150-200 yards.

Horrible to reload on a fouled bore. I hunted this November and if i had been using that bullet, theres no way i would have been able to get another one down the bore with cold hands. I used to think sabots loaded hard until i tried those fpb's #-o

You are lucky if an Omega will shoot any conical well! that said, most seem to shoot FPBs pretty well. Mine shoots them at 3 inches at 100 yards with open sights.

And they will load just fine on a fouled barrel if you use BH 209. I have shot as many as 30 shots without swabbing.

And if you have had success with powerbelts and have cofindence in them, great. But the FPB seems to hold together better at a wider range of distances and velocities. When I shoot at an elk, I have more cofindence in the FPB

Any chance Hornady is going to come out with a 45 caliber FPB? I like to use my 45 on deer in CO and the Powerbelts have not held together at all. Any other suggestions? The Powerbelts shoot very accurately, but I had to shoot my last buck 3 times to get him killed. The first shot hit him right on the shoulder and it never entered the body. It was a race from then on and I had to shoot him in the rear end the second time. Third time I got one through his ribs, but it was more adventure than I want this fall.
