Still finding some...

Post by sactribe » Sat Jul 07, 2012 8:03 pm

I have been out a few times in the last week and found one fresh deer shed and two fresh elk sheds and a few older elk sheds, including a nice big 6 point. I also got to see a fawn and two little elk calves. Still plenty of good horns laying around.

Nice. We've been picking up a few here and there at work too. But I think you have a great little spot.

Great pics, never picked them up anywhere near this later in my neck of the woods.

I found another one last weekend. This was a smaller white 5 point from last year (brown on the bottom) but it was a very rewarding find because I spotted it from pretty far away with my glasses while taking a lunch break on top of a ridge. It is always nice to trip over them, but I think they are more memorable when you can spot them from far off. This one puts me at 80 for the year and just over 170 total miles.

Way to keep finding them...
That's quite the total!

I went for a walk last night at a place I have driven by many times but never stopped to look around before. This was a very open area with knee-high brush. I found 7 deer sheds in 3 miles of walking a relatively tight grid pattern. All of them were white with various degree of cracks, but still mostly good shape. 2 two points, 1 four point, and 4 three points. I think I will be heading back soon. Shed count for the year is now 88. Getting close to the 100 mark! Here are some of the better shots.
