The Misfit Shed Team

Post by waynedevore » Sat Jan 19, 2008 10:39 am

My team of shed hunters "Misfits" now have 105 finds since Dec 1 07.

A combination of Elk, Mule Deer, Whitetails and Moose. The Elk and Moose haven't shed yet, but we count the white sheds also. This count is well ahead of last years. Mulies and Whitetails are dropping in most areas.
I expect our total count will be well over 1000 finds by contest end June 15th.

To much snow out here to even scout for them with out bothering them so i havent been able to look for any bald bucks ](*,) hopefully we get warm weather(i know. aint gonna happen) to melt some snow so its easier on the deer.

Yes, it's good to stay out of areas where there's deep snow or the deer are stressed. The guys that are finding the sheds now are mainly in areas where it"s snowless or only a small amounts. The lower elevations in WA, OR, ID have little or no snow. Much of Montana and parts of the Dakotas have little snow. Here We have about a foot on the ground and deer are moving freely. The deer are just starting to shed. But it's very cold here.

The Guys that are in heavy snow areas like Western CO and Utah will stay out of the areas until the snow is melting. All are very concerned about the health of the deer herds.

Those are some nice shed. :thumb

I sure wish that everybody would feel that way about shed hunting around here. There are some people that will chase them no matter how hard the winter has been.
Live to hunt, hunt to live.

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell
the difference.
