Next time, I'll have a deer tag

Post by Turokman123 » Sun Aug 26, 2012 12:07 pm

Went out this morning looking for elk, and of course I don't have a deer tag and I run into some of these guys. Any ideas on what he scores? I figured he's about 26-27 inches wide and has 5 on one side and 6 on the other. By the way, this is public land, now only if I could find a bull like that :>/ . Enjoy the eye candy though.

Awesome buck, he is a lot wider than 22-23" though IMO. I think you have a more mature buck there.

If I was just to guess on this photo, I'd say he was 26 or maybe even 27" wide.

That is a huge buck....I would have to agree with Brett on the width at 27"+. Heck, the little one aint too bad.--------SS

Okay thanks guys, I'm not that good at field judging, but I know how much I missed out on now! Should of, could of, would of right?

I would agree about 27 wide and likely around 170-175

I would put him mid to high 170's with potential to hit 180 despite the short g2's. He appears to have very good beams, eye guards, and the extra will help. This buck I killed has a similar frame and scores 170. He is 28" between his g4's and I don't think is inside spread or main beams are as good as the buck in the picture although with velvet it can be decieving.

I never guessed a score, but if I did I'd put him over 180"

I think he is actually more like 185", hard to tell from just the one pic but he is definitely a sweet buck and SHOOTER!

Nice to know that's a public land buck!!
