Congrats and good luck. I recently inherited a 243 Remington Pump. My father killed a lot of whitetails with that gun.

The .243 will certainly kill an elk. Use a good bullet and shoot them right behind the shoulder in the heart and lungs region. I've killed elk with my 6mm Remington, which has almost the exact same ballistics as the .243. Good luck on your elk this year. My son hunted for the first time last year and used his 6mm to take 3 antelope.

That a nice gun. When are you going to try for a coyote? The 243 will work well for you on elk to. Get a good broadside shot aim just behind the shoulder.

Thats a nice gun, it should serve you well. I shot a .243 for years in my younger days. Congrats

Thats a great gun. I used one to take my first Muley and I'm sure you can still knock down an elk. Cant go wrong with a .243 really, they shoot REALLY flat and fast.
