Good scope for a 270. I aint much on them 50mm objective lenses due to the weight and looks, but any Leupold you get will work great.

I had a Leupold with a 1" tube and a 50mm objective and ended up trading it for a scope that had a 30mm tube and a 40mm objective. The 50mm usually requires high scope rings/bases making it difficlut to get a consistent cheek weld unless you have an adjustible stock.

Appreciate the advise. I'm going with the VXII 3X9X40.I don't want the extra weight and high scope rings of the 50.

I wouldnt put a 50mm on anything I was going to carry in the mtns. Too much wt. You can get a fine 3-9x32 or 3-9x40 for same money and will be 4oz lighter. Good luck.

The customer reivews on the Cabela's website are really helpful. 4.8 out of 5 after 177 reviews indicates that they are pretty good.
