I would have shot both, when you have a mother and a cub they kill more, not for the food but to show the cub how to hunt. not because they need it. but that is just me.

Lions are an improtant predator. They may kill a number of deer, but to me (and other predator hunters) having a viable population of lions is as improtant as the number of deer they kill.
More deer fawn’s are lost to scower’s every year than can be documented to lion loss. Lion’s should be hunted but not because they eat deer. Hail,I eat deer, are you going to shoot me?
