Re: the right ammo???

I would say for the 308, I would use a 168 bullet. No need to get into 180gr. The 168gr will do fine if it's put where it needs to be. I would try to find a quality bullet. Do the corelokts work? Yes they will do the job, but I think there are better rounds out there. You will want something that wi...

Re: Idaho Bannock Zone

I have not hunted around Chesterfield much, I know if you can get on the other side of the mountain you can get into elk. That's the Bancroft area. I would make sure it's in the bannock zone though? If it is talk to the farmers along Lund Road (it's the road at the bottom of fish creek) for access t...

Re: Idaho Frank Church mule deer hunt

The best way to hunt that would be on horseback. That country is rugged and tough to get into some spots. I have never hunted it but have been there. You have to get deep, the deeper you are the less people you will see and the less skittish those deer will be. I heard from people it's very tough fo...

Re: What would you do?

Well I found the buck. He was exactly where I knew he would be. My plan was to walk up the finger he was in and I was sure I would find him. It has snowed the night before so there was 6-10 inches of fresh powder up there. I decided to follow the coyote tracks and it led me right to him. One side of...

Re: What would you do?

I am heading up in the morning. That is the soonest I can go. I could not find anyone to go with me last night. Its been below 40 degrees during the day and freezing at night, Everyone I talk to said that most of the meat will be good, which make me happy.

Re: Idaho Archery Bull

This bull was shot over south of Burley in Idaho. It is for sure a nice bull. I have a buddy who hunts deer around there and he has seen elk, but nothing that size ever. He was shocked when he saw it was taken there.

Re: Idaho DIY Archery Bull

Thanks everyone. It was for sure a great time. I have followed this bull up with a 13" Pronghorn and am working to get a nice mule deer then still have a WT doe tag for archery! It has been a busy fall. If the bears decide to hit my bait I will have that as well.

Re: What would you do?

Thanks for the replies. I will try to round up some people to go with me. I am pretty familiar with the area and will be able to find it in the dark, it will be tough to find him, but I agree I have to at least try. That was the main reason I did not hike over to him last night, I was by my self. Th...
