Re: Utah Elk hunting
If it were me and you didn't want to go to Colorado I would first look at Idaho and possibly Wyoming. It will probably still be difficult to get away from the crowds though. What weapon are you willing to hunt with?

Here's the buck I took with my bow in Idaho this year with an unlimited tag. He's 15 1/4 long.

Re: Arizona Applications are aout.
This is the way I understand it. If someone knows better, please jump in. If a unit has 50 tags, 10 (20%) of them go to the applicants with the most points. Also, up to 5 (10%) of the 50 can go to nonresidents. Here is where it gets tricky. Because 45+ go to residents and 5 or less go to nonresident...

Re: ATTENTION: NEW OR STRUGGLING HUNTERS
I could help some on elk in Eastern Idaho. I've had a little success and could point out a few areas for others.

Re: Utah Elk hunting
Take this for what it's worth, but it's just my opinion. Utah is the worst state in the west when it comes to general season elk hunting unless you have private property to hunt on. If it were me, I would look at Idaho or Wyoming (May have a slight chance at general season). If you hunt Utah general...

Nothing like a few mountain maggots ruining a hunt. I can't stand sheep!

I was able to see this bull and all I can say is WOW!
I was happy and suprised to hear that Rob went after it with his bow. Incredible animal that I can't wait to watch on TV. Congratulations Rob!

Re: Decoy
I always carry one but find it's very difficult to use. We're constantly moving around to try and get in a better position on a bull that eventually the decoy gets ignored. That being said. A few years ago I was calling next to a decoy and pulled in a nice 6x6 that my friend shot. He's convinced tha...

Re: My Idaho Antelope (Video)
Thank you for all of the kind remarks. I've been hunting this same spot now for three years and put in a ton of work on it. Finally it paid off! Believe me when I say I've had my share of frustrations including thinking I blew it on the "Big Buck" 30 minutes before this one came by. This area is ext...

Here he is. He didn't go very far.
For you antelope experts, I'd like to know if you think he will make Pope and Young? What do you think he scores?
