Vernon West Desert Mule Deer

After 11 years I finally drew a West Desert tag for the rifle hunt. I've been going out there on and off for the last several years but now I am really spending more time out there. Can't afford a guide so I'm on my own. Any suggestions on where the best places are to look out there? Never really realized how big the area was until I drew the tag. Been looking for canyons with water and that are off the beaten path. I am open to suggestions.
