Nice Henry Mtns Buck - surrendered tag

Post by sewing » Wed Oct 25, 2017 1:56 pm

Wanted to follow up with the requested pics from my brothers Henry Mtns surrendered tag hunt. Thank you Bow Nut for the Henries advice. We ended up in a different spot but that helped to give us options. My brother had a few decent bucks scouted before his hunt, but with the help of some cyber scouting I turned this guy up for him the first morning. By cyber scouting I mean watching youtube videos of successful hunts and using google earth to figure out where they were taken. :) His neighbor rough scored it at 212" but I have no idea how accurate that is. What would you guess on the score?

Sure looks like a brute to me. Congrats to your brother!
It ain't the size of the gun but the placement of the bullet.

That's a fine looking buck.

Glad that you guys had a good time.

Thanks Texas! I forgot to mention. I'm no guide, but I would be glad to give anyone information and tips on where and how to hunt the Henry Mountains. It's a little different then hunting other public land in Utah. At least to me it is. If you draw the tag PM me and I'll give you all I know.

Congrats to your brother. That is a great buck. How wide is he? I'm not great when it comes to guessing scores, but I'll just say the buck is worthy of the tag.

He's 33" wide. You wouldn't believe how many small bucks we saw in the back of trucks and wheelers. We talked to a guy with a regular Henries tag looking for "a decent 3 point or better". It was heartbreaking.
I guess if it's a trophy for them than that's all that matters, but why not put in for an area you have better odds of drawing? Strange to me.
