Coues Deer

Post by BikerRN » Thu Mar 03, 2011 3:23 am

Bear in mind, I have not hunted southern AZ since 1988, but it seems as if Coues Deer have taken over habitat that was once strictly Mulies. Am I incorrect in my thinking?

I just got back from hunting Coues deer......and saw 30-50 ma day.......not one mule deer. The Coues are definitely flourishing over the desert mule deer.

The Coues numbers have exploded.
Mulies are still out there, but not in the numbers I used to see.

I think that's true in "southern" AZ, but really varies depending on the area. Just got done hunting Unit 27 and saw many, many more mule deer.
