CA Turkey (pics)

Post by BOHNTR » Mon Apr 14, 2014 6:53 am

Got back home last night after venturing to the northern portion of the Golden State......I was hunting turkeys with two buddies from the area with my bow. Hunting was a lot more difficult this year, but plenty of gobblers to be seen. On Saturday, on the way back towards the truck, I spotted this gobbler making his way towards us on a ridge after we had unsuccessfully tried calling a few hundreds yards away. So, I did what I normally do......tried stalking him. Fortunately, I was able to get within shooting distance of the long beard and sent an arrow through him at 30 yards. I didn't realize just how big this bird was when I released the arrow......huge spurs! The local experts guessed him to be a 5 year old bird. Pretty darn lucky to have him. Hope you enjoy

Look at those 1.5" spurs!

The beard wasn't too bad either (10"):

Great looking bird. :thumb

Eight more days before our general season begins. ](*,)

There are about fifty turkeys running around out behind my mothers place that I am going to put the hurtin to. :arrow
