GONE TOO FAR!!!

Post by fatrooster » Wed Mar 17, 2010 10:07 pm

In 2007 I decided I wanted to get a shed dog so I got a pup and trained her up. Last year things were working out pretty good and together we found 83 antlers with the credit going to Daisy for 32 of those antlers. On our last two trips of 2009 Daisy found more antlers than me. Now in 2010 we've gone on 3 shed hunting trips and she's beat me every time. I guess thats a good problem to have but I'd like for her to let me find a few here and there. Right now she's up to 13 and I'm at 5. One advantage that I have is that I can glass up antlers up ahead of us and it helps me try and keep up with her in score. That was until today! I was piddlin' around the house and I noticed that I hadn't seen Daisy for about 2 hours. So I looked in the front yard but didn't find her. I looked in the back yard and this is what I found.

She had my spotting scope and was glassing up sheds on the distant hillsides. Then when we go out shed hunting she can pretend like she's sniffin' them up. Just look at the guilty look on her face when she turned around and realized I was standing there watching her. Then she just turned around and pretended I wasn't there and continued glassing.
Image
Then I walked around in front of her to let her know that I didn't appreciate her cheating and she gave me a dirty look as if to say, "Get out of the way!"
Image
I got furious and was about to take the spotting scope away from her but she growled at me and I decided it wasn't worth it to become her next antler chew toy and let her have her way. She continued to glass for the rest of the day.
I can't believe she would stoop to such unfair practices. How will I ever catch up to her? This has gone too far!!!!!! fatrooster.

Very funny. Daisy is a good lookin lab. I certainly wouldn't complain if my 12 year old yellow lab could get up the mountian and bring me down some sheds. Good problem to have even though it has gone too far lol
