A little hard to tell from the photo, but this buck is a 10×8 that weighed in at 245 lbs. Taken by Shannon Straley in Colorado.

"I was especially lucky this year and was able to track for two days and make a clean kill shot on a 10 X 8 buck that weighed in at 245 lbs.† He has gross scored pretty well at 173 5/8 for a typical buck and 214 4/8 for non-typical.† This is the largest deer that I have ever taken and even seen in the wild.† It was truly the hunt of a lifetime!"

Just a little more info: Buck was taken on public land in Routt National Forest off of Morrison Creek Trail near Toponas, Colorado. Shot from 125 yards with a Ruger M77 MK II .30-06, (the one in my hand), and his overall spread was 29 1/4. GMU #15 if you are looking to hunt in Colorado next year. Great area for elk as well. We normally take two to three elk every year and this was the first year we filled all four of our deer tags. Stay safe and happy hunting!!!

Officer Staley,

I was great meeting and talking w/ you over at Bruce’s yesterday. Pretty small world, huh. I might have to stop in at Don’s sometime and check em’ out! One heck of a sweet buck. Very few people will ever have the opportunity to put one like that one the ground…
