Jamie B.

My name is Jamie B. This is the story behind Goliath, as named by the neighborhood hunting teens in the area. It was Nov. 6, and I was scheduled for a surgery on Nov. 12. I got off work around 2 p.m., and decided to go for a short hunt near where I had seen two nice deer in the early archerey season. It also happens that I harvested two other bucks on the same ridge in the previous two years. I took my two year old son with me as usual. This was not his first hunt for the year. He was with me when I shot my first bear it was a black phase with auburn around the neck, and down the back measuring 5' 11.75". We arrived at my spot got out of the truck, and I packed him up in his pack to put him on my back when I looked up the skid trail. It was then that I realized we were being watched by not one but two muleys. I reached for my gun slowly and deliberatly, and one of the deer took about three bounces up the ridge. The other one however stood completely still. I shouldered my gun took aim, and it was all over. I picked up my son, put hom on my back and started up towrads the deer, and the second deer came barreling down the skid trail blowing buy us with a flash. When we got to my deer I took my son out of the pack and let him down by the deer, and the first word out of his mouth was "daddy buck!". This is one hunt I will never forget. The muley was a 6x6 with a nice kicker on his right side he weighed in at 210 dressed.
