Who's going to Arizona?

It's getting close to that time of year when the desert muleys start chasing the does. Anyone heading down to Arizona for the archery rut hunt coming up? I'll be leaving New Years Eve for a two week hunt.

Nice pics. I will be in 37B on Dec 15 if my wife doesnt have the baby first!

So is this an over the counter tag? if so what type of pressure is their meaning is their lots of hunters out their? I wish i was going Good luck to ya and kill a whopper+ :arrow :arrow

Probly be lots of hunters in Jan because javelina overlaps the archery deer. Hard to find a good area to hunt, once you find and scout one out you are in business.

I don't see a lot of pressure where I hunt in the desert. I've found that if you hunt away from the more populated areas of Arizona (Phoenix & Tucson), you'll find far less people and a fair amount of deer.

Arizona deer tags are over-the-counter for archery and are good for either coues or mule deer. Where I hunt, I see both. I just can't seem to close the deal on one of those wiley coues....they're tuff!

thats a great system it takes a lot of points to draw oregon's late season archery muley tags. good luck to you and cant wait to see them pics!

Roy ,maybe I will see ya down there. I haven't nailed down exact dates as I am waiting on some building permits, but will be there around the first, save some big uns for me. Buddies have been scoutin skin heads. I had some bad JU JU up here on the WA late hunt so I need a big AZ buck to pick my spirits back up. Good luck, Steve

I'll be hunting the januaryarchery rut hunt also here in arizona, should be a great hunt,
been seening a little buck activity here in southeastern az. But ,the rut hasnt gone full blown yet. The first week or two in jan should the rut peak. Ill be hunting here close to home Units 27, 28, 32 ,30b,31. Hasnt
been real cold here yet. A little snow in the upper units 27, and unit 1.

I'll be heading to Az in about a day and a half to hunt the Dec season for a few days and then returning the second week in Jan for another try. Got my heart set on a Coues whitetail to complete my NA deer slam. Hopefully the monster muleys won't divert my attention!! Good luck. Ed F

I sat two days in my tree and just had does come in. Never saw a buck. Got some pics off my trail cam. I had 12 different does come in at night to water. I'm leaving tomorrow for a week and a half. Hopefully I can put it together. Ed F

I finally made it back from Arizona. Ended up arrowing a decent size 4-point muley with good eye-guards. It was a tough hunt, as the deer weren't rutting much. I'll post some pics later.......
