Re: Need Some Help From Fellow Mule Deer Hunters

I voted for you, but it was tough. I have 3 Brittanies in the house and 3 daughters too. So it was hard to pass on #9.

Nice pic of the buck though.

Re: What kind of hunting rig you drive?

Killerbee - With an elk in there, I bet the steering gets light on you. :)

My hunting rig is a 2005 F250 SD Diesel. Nothing fancy after market wise, but do have some Cooper Discovery STT's on her to keep the mud flying.

Re: Colorado deer draw

Greatwhite, I am not complaining. I used to live in Craig. Moved away many years ago, but my dad stayed in Craig, and passed away in '96. I have friends that live in Craig and Maybell as lifelong residents. I feel for them, as it's tough to look out your back yard and know you can't hunt the animals...

Re: Colorado deer draw

My buddy and I drew CO GMU #1 2nd season last year as a group; he had 9 pts I think, I had 7 pts. So the min was basically 7 pts. This year, 1 NR drew at 11 pts, and one NR at 9 pts. 4 NR @ 10 pts did not draw, as there were only 2 NR tags available and those 4 must have been grouped together. Point...

Re: What frame pack for hauling elk

I have a Dana Design Flatbed. They are not made anymore, but you can find them used if you keep an eye out for them. I have carried 80+ lbs of meat out with no problems. It has a set of fiberglass rods which transfer the weight straight down on the hips, which allows me to carry more weight comforta...

Re: Post Your 2010 Muleys Here

Will give this picture thing a try. Posting a better picture of the deer than the first time. 2nd Season CO Buck on Right scores about 161 gross - very even - 26" outside Buck on left is unusual, very weak fronts, but 31 1/2" outside! Buddy says it scored 170 with those weak fronts. Should have been...

Re: Todays highlights

It's amazing how with their summer coats, and with less testosterone, they look almost puny. This fall, it will not look like the same elk. Look at his neck thickness. They really pump up by September. Nice pictures, and I hope you keep seeing that boy until he is in your sights when the time is rig...

Re: Mechanical or Fixed Blade Broadheads?

Don't discount the thought of a fixed blade broadhead like the Wensel Woodsman. Yes, you have to sharpen them yourself, but it is not that hard with a 12" mill bastard file, and a two sided diamond stone. Shaving sharp in a couple of minutes, and what a blood trail. Very tough, no flimsy razor blade...

Re: spotting scope on more of a budget than the last post, l

Depending upon how portable of a scope you are looking for, it's hard to beat the Celestron C series for most bang for the buck. These can be had on ebay new or used. (Read under $100 used sometimes for some very high quality, older glass.) They are basically a cross between a spotting scope and a t...
