Which Would You Shoot?
So, I was checking some of my traps the other day and I saw two bucks. One was a decent 4 point, about as wide as his ears but not to tall, pretty good mass. With him was another, obviously young buck, with cactus antlers. He basically had 10" spikes, lots of "knarl" around the bases and full velvet...

Best Deer Ever!
This year I was lucky enough to hold onto one of our 3rd season landowner vouchers to use myself. These PLO tags can be wonderful or a curse. On the right day, at the right time, you have to hope the deer are liking your ground better than your neighbors. lol I was also lucky to have filled my freez...

Re: OTC Elk Colorado
Not sure if this is statewide, but in SW Colo units, youth can put in for youth cow tags that are good as long as there is a season open and the tag is unfilled. You can pick the season that you want to hunt in, and if unsuccessful you take the tag to the local CPAW office and they "roll it over" or...

Just a Funny Elk Story
First a little backstory...I am a mother of two boys, now 9 and 6. I am an avid outdoorswoman, and both of them have been on coyote hunts, deer hunts, turkey hunts and my winter trapline since they were born. They understand why we hunt, and trap but don't seem to get excited over it. That was until...

Colorado Unit 67?
After many years of accumulating preference points for antelope (about 15 yrs), we(hubby and I) have decided this is the year to actually apply for a tag. I did some research and am looking at unit 67 SE of Gunnison. It only has a few tags, but the success rate for the past few years is 100%. It als...

Bucket List-Moutain Lion!
Though it has always been high on my "bucket list", I never thought I would actually get a mountain lion. Its not that I don't live in the right place or that there aren't many around. I just know how hard they can be to catch. I've been on many lion hunts where, for whatever reason (and there are m...
