Re: Winchester Model 70 Shadow Hunter questions
I don't really have experience with the Model 70, but I'm sure you can pick up a hinged floor plate for your rifle. Does BC make a replacement stock without the floor plate? Are you stuck on getting one? Hopefully someone with some Model 70 experience can help out! Good luck!

Re: The slowest 10 days of the year
Waspo...it was fun reading about your 2012 hunt. You got your two-point last year...how do you like your chances at seeing a bigger buck? As tempting as it is to take a smaller buck early in the hunt, you almost always have to pass on several to find a mature buck. Whatever you decide, it should be...

Re: The slowest 10 days of the year
I'm excited to hit the range tomorrow after my last class! I wasn't getting awesome groups with the 300 SST so I ended up switching to the 290 Barnes TMZ. I only crud them at 50 yards, but they all pretty much go in the same hole. I'm hoping they will continue to perform at 100 yards. Tomorrow morni...

Re: Nosler or Barnes?
I had never shot the Accubond before until this year. I loaded a 140 gr Accubond in my 270 WSM and I was impressed with the results on a nice sized black bear sow. She only went about 30 yards. Now I've got them loaded up for my 7 Rem Mag and 25-06.... I just have to decide which rifle I'm going to ...

Re: SS gets a MuZZy
That's a heck of a start! I love messing around with my muzzy- a buddy and I were shooting steel last week at 150-225 yards. Great practice for field positions and very satisfying to hear the bullet strike. Looks like you've got yourself a great rifle!

Re: SS gets a MuZZy
I'm still new to the muzzy scene, but I've been having a lot of fun with it. I'm shooting a CVA Optima and it seems to like everything I feed it. I use two 50 gr. pellets of T7 and the CCI muzzleloading primers. The sabots that seem to load the easiest have been the Harvester Crush Rib green sabots ...

Re: .25-06
You're definitely right about it not being the best time to try to start reloading, but for the 25-06, I really think that you can find good components around. Most of the craze is over .223 and seems like .308 bullets. The hunting bullets are fairly easy to find, but it just depends on what your ri...

Re: .25-06
I'm a huge fan of my 25-06... I've had good luck wih the 100 gr TTSX bullets- I'm thinking of loading the 110 accubond or deer this fall. I also picked up some 75 gr V max for coyotes- should be an awesome combo!

Thanks Derek, He's headed to the Mexico City, North West mission- it'll be a bit of a change from SE Idaho!derekp1999 wrote:Great story and nice looking sow. Too bad about the rest of your group, but on to Mexico (which mission?).
