badlands 2200 backpack

lookin at a badlands pack. mostly will be day hikes. i want a lightweight pack that has internal frame. also obviously that is comfy and rugged.
just wondering if anyone has the 2200 and if so, how is it?
any other suggestions would be great!

I have both the 2200 and the 2800 and I personaly like the 2800 a bit better. I like the pocket configuration on the 2800 better.

I've got a 2200 and love it for Day Hikes. I looked at the 2800 too but the 2200 just fit my needs better. From my experience it is the best pack I have ever used. Very sturdy and amazingly comfortable and light.

I dont know if you have looked at these packs compared to each other but i was faced with the same problem. I went to the expo in SLC and talked to the guys at the badlands booth and they told me that the 2200 was more popular. They promised that if i was to fill the 2800 completley full i wouldnt be able to even pack it around. One thing that stuck out to me though was the fact that the 2800 had what i would call wings and compression straps. I will be using my next pack for scouting, hiking trips and mainly back country archery elk hunting so i wanted something versatile. When looking at the packs realized that i could pack out a few quarters by using those compression straps on the 2800 where as on the 2200 i dont think i could fit even one quarter on it. Also if you are going to pay a large amount of money for a pack why not get one that you can use for multiple activities, scouting, 5 day hunts, weekend hikes, i think the 2800 would be the better choice personally but that is up to you!

My 2200 is very comfortable. I have no problem hunting all day with it on my back. It's a great size for day or weekend hunts. It will expand enough to pack a deer out in one trip. I love mine but I know there are now allot of good quality pack options out there.

I just re read my last entry and wish to clarify my packing out quarters part, with the packs completely full for back country archery elk i feel i wouldnt have enough room to pack out quarters and all my gear if i was to tag out early with the 2200 where as the 2800 seems like it could handle much more in/on it than my knees could carry back out. Im sure you if you didnt have alot in the 2200 packing out quarters would be easy, but i wont be leaving many empty spaces when i go! (and hopefully less empty space when i come back!)

I have a Badlands 2200 and a diablo, i spend many many hours year round with a pack on and i personally like the diablo for almost anything i do. Sometimes it gets a little full but other times it just has the basics i can fit my lightweight tripod w/ fluid head and a 80mm spotter in it as well as my camera equpement. The 2200 i really only care to pack when we will be haul'n out game, and mine has hualed out many pounds of meat (deer and elk only i should mention) and it is an awsome pack for the purpose. I know badlands makes 3 or 4 packs in the same cubic inch class as the diablo. I also have a blacks creek pack, they are kinda a newer (or at least new to me) company, but i can tell ya thier packs are second to none on the market imo. I know my diablo litterally has thousands of hard miles on it and has hled up well. All 3 packs are very comfortable. I would try to choose the pack that fits ur current needs as well as needs you expect to come like maybe you dont have a tripod and think ya might buy one in a year. Either way best of luck.
