Southern AZ Mulies

Post by BikerRN » Thu Mar 03, 2011 12:33 am

What happened to all the southern AZ Mulies?

I'm seeing Coues Deer where Mulies used to be heavily populated. Bear in mind, I haven't hunted in AZ since 1988, but what the heck happened?

Years of drought probably had the biggest impact on the desert herd......there's still a stable mule deer herd in the desert, but not like it was 15-20 years ago. However, I saw some of the better mule deer bucks this year during the archery hunt than I've seen in a while.......range conditions looked really good too.

It looks like 2011 is going to be another dry spring and summer. That doesn't bode well for Fall.
