What would be your ideal time of year hunt?
Here in Wyoming the hunt for Mule Deer is essentially over by the end of October. What's your favorite time of year for hunting Mulies? When do the seasons run in your area?

Personally I love to hunt deer in Sept while they are still in velvet. Spot and stalk with archery gear. 2nd would be during the rut in November. The more I think about it......i've enjoyed hunting from AUG-SEP.....

My best experiences have been late September early October.

I like the weather then for sure but it can be so hot it's hard to get game out without spoiling. Plus I have no interest in hunting velvet anything!! I do hunt with the bow, usually after meat deer or Antelope/Elk and that's a fine time to be out chasing them.

My ideal time to hunt would definatley be during the rut in Novomber, mostly because i live in a winter range and wouldn't have to travel very far and there is a ton of deer running around. Good oppurtunity to get a good buck

I like late Sept into early Oct, everything is hard horned and the colors in the mountains are spectacular... but at this point in time I take any time I can get. I'm really enjoying the middle season cow elk hunt that opened last weekend. Went up after some freezer meat and saw a big mule deer buck in full rut, the kind of behavior that you read about or see on video but never think you'll actually see for yourself. Swollen neck, lip curling, snorting... amazing! Maybe Nov just became my favorite time to hunt.

For this ol' bowhunter.......has to be late August to early September. Something about bachelor herds of velvet clad mule deer above timberline that stirs the fire in me. Cold mornings, nice afternoons with periodic thunderstorms. It's truly a magical time of year in the Rockies.
Of course, I won't turn away from a January mule deer hunt in Arizona and/or New Mexico.

Simply during the rut with my long bow. I may actually get a shot at a big buck with my martin savannah!
