NO NOHOW!

Post by maintguy47 » Tue Oct 21, 2008 9:19 pm

Can anybody tell me what to use to catch laketrout. I've got a little jon boat to take out on a small lake in New Mexico, Heron Lake. I've got forty years saltwater experiance but very little freshwater. Whitch lures to jig or troll or what ever. I've seen a few monsters pulled out of the lake and would like to give it a shot. Any advice would give me a better chance than I have now. Thanks.

I use Toro jigs when i jig and when i troll i use downriggers with flat fish or j-13 rapalas the key is a good fish finder and structure for jigging and for trolling i troll slow in an S pattern hope this helps im not to familar with the lake you mentioned
Glad to be back...

Thanks for the info. Heron is about 20 miles southwest of Chama New Mexico off of hwy 84. I've beat the crap out of the Chama and the Brazos rivers with a fly rod over the years whitch are in the same area, thought it was time to try for something bigger. Thanks again.
