I would leave the velvet on if it is/was in good shape which is seems to be myself.
Re: Monster Idaho state record Muzzy buck
I would leave the velvet on also. I would want the deer to remain the same way it was when I shot it because that is what made you want to harvest it in the first place.
Sometimes it seems that there is to much emphisis (sp) put on the score of an animal than just the trophy quality over all.

WOW...what an incredible trophy.

I would leave the velvet on it makes the rack so unique. I probably would have shoulder mounted that monster tho.

I couldn't imagine seeing that thing in the field. Unreal!
I would keep the velvet on you don't need a measurement to tell you thats gigantic.

What a beast! Although, I feel bad for the buck, such private information being revealed to all the world. From the article - "At the time of harvest, the testicles of this deer were only one-fourth the size of a normal mule deer. So obviously this buck had some sort of testicular issues whether it be lack of testicles from a birth defect, some sort of trauma, or a genetic defect."
Boy oh boy I'd be pissed if someone was saying nasty things like that about me, even worse after you're dead!
