Re: 08 UT Muzzy Buck
Me and my buddy scouted this area pretty hard during the summer and found a great 170 buck in there. We had him patterned pretty good before the hunt started as well. The night before the hunt opened we put our good buck to bed in the same spot he had always been. Opening morning we had found him and the other five or six bucks that were with him. We waited tell they bedded down for the morning and was just getting ready to put a stalk on them. Then from a few canyons over someone cranked a shot off, not even real close to our bucks. But for some reason it really spooked them and they took off leaving nothin but dust in their tracks. Long story short they ran right past another hunter at about 85 yards and he put the buck down. I was able to catch up to him later that day and atleast check the buck out close up. After that we kept huntin and thrusday night by buddy connected on another tall four point. We quarterd it up and ended up with a 2.3 mile pack out in the dark. We took his buck off the hill that night and returned friday afternoon. Friday night we spotted two more four points, one being the buck i was able to get. So we put them to bed that night, and i told my buddy I would love a chance at the buck with the bladed G-2's but that I would be happy with either. Saturday morning came and i found myself looking at the bladed buck, put a quick stalk on him , made the 120 yard shot, and was done by 8:00 that morning. We also quarterd my buck up but it was not quit as far of a pack out. Neither buck was huge by any means but we were both very happy and wore out when it was over.

Welcome there someguy01 - That sucks with the buck you had your sights on, but it's things like that that make the hunting part so fun (after the couple years it takes to get over it of course), never knowing and always anticipating and hoping things are going to work out up until you finally get that horn in your hands.. Congrats! I can't say i'd be too upset if I were you, that's a sweet buck. Especially for Muzzy on public land in Utah.
Got any pics of your buddies buck?
