Backyard trail cam pics

I think their reputation among people that have never been around them is not really deserved. I have hunted them for over 25 years and have never seen an act of aggression, even when we've been messing with their newborn babies. The minute they know you are a person, they bolt! They can and do kill dogs occasionally, so most "attacks" on people are normally pet related when the javelina is likely just defending itself from what it thinks is an attack. They also have fairly poor vision, so if they don't know exactly where the trouble is coming from, they run in all directions. I've had them practically brush my leg trying to get away because they didn't know where I was and they were trying to get away, so I think this sometimes gets them the reputation of being mean. I don't recall ever speaking to a hunter that truly spent any time around them, that ever had a story of them being mean or aggressive that I can recall.

49 lbs, that's a brute of a pig! Super nice antelope as well. Can't wait for the story and some more pics on him. I've got a video displaying just what you mean about javalina temperment. I'll see if I can't figure out how to get it uploaded and put a link on here.
Anyway, welcome to the site! Nice to see another AZ'an.

This is some video I took during my deer hunt last fall ('06). We hadn't seen any bucks that day, and these javalina had been feeding comfortably back within less than 150 yards of where we were glassing for hours.
After the video ends (it is kinda long), the pigs did end up going back to feeding within plain eyesight of us.
