I photographed the front deer. As he went over the fence he
looked towards me. His neck is still stretched out which is
natural as they jump. In the actual print you can see this better. But what can I say. Sometimes I make the mistake of painting them as I see them. Which isn’t always right. I will say your not the first to mention his neck. Some poses just don’t look natural. But this was is. mw

I’m not sure why you would say the neck is skinny. If you
look close you will see that it is partially covered by his
ear. Yes, he does have it stretched as he going over the
fence. As a side note, this painting just finished in the top
5 in a juried art show in Vegas. So I guess someone liked it.
Thank you for your critic though. Even though I don’t quite
agree it is helpfull as I prepare my next one. m

You people are Jerks!!! I’ll bet at least half of you don’t have that kind of talent and look, you are criticizing her art because it doesn’t have a little bit of black on the tail. That is a crappy thing to do. Oh and the neck is not skinny. If you would open your eyes you’d see that the ear covers it. Great job Merrill.
